ABSTRACT
Mining operations carried out by CV. Air Mata Emas
using a system of open pit strip mining methods. In the open pit operations in
direct contact with the outside air, so that mining activity is strongly
influenced by climate. One of the most influential climate is rainy. Rain is
the main source of water in open pits. The presence of water on the floor of
the bench will be very disturbing mining activities, the water should be
removed from the mine site. It required a careful planning for handling the
runoff water before it goes into public waters. Runoff water treatment is
planned in the form of an open channel or drainage, to be made subsequent
siltation pond as sludge handling container carried by water runoff.
Research conducted classified experiments to study
the primary variable is the rainfall data and the data catchment area, where
the source data comes from secondary data from local rainfall data Kumanis 12
years, the study area topographic map scale 1: 5000, literature-related
literature drainage science and data mining on the ground.
The magnitude of the design rainfall is 103.20 mm
/ day. Conditions of the mining area is partially bald with a slope varying
between 3-15% and> 15% resulting in water runoff flows rapidly into line
with the runoff coefficient between the numbers 0.6, 0.7, 0.8 and 0.9 is more
dominant. Mine systems in the mining drainage CV. Air Mata Emas does not
require pumping, becauase for mining positions to extent mining is still higher
than the siltation pond.
Rainfall is high in the study area with state of
the rainfall intensity (It) ranged from 35.91 mm / hour up to 69.42 mm / h.
Total discharge of water runoff in the study area of 5.13 m
/ sec or equal to 18,468 m³ / h. That requires a parent channel to drain water
runoff into the pond siltation. Channels of trapezoidal cross-section is made
with a relatively long bridge with a slope of 2:3. As a container for the
control of mud carried by runoff water created a slurry settling ponds with a
size of 188.66 m x 34 m x 6 m which is divided into 3 partitions / sections.
Keywords : Contrivance rainfall, water off the rain discharge, dimension of canal and dimension of sedimentation sump.
